SYDNEY, September 28, Dreadful WreckThe ship Susanna Godeffroy, bound to Yokohama, has been wrecked at Newcastle during a heavy gale in sight of a multitude of citizens. All on board have > perished except Captain Edmonson, late in command of tho Gnnga, and four of the crew. Captain Edmonson is not expected to recover. The vessel has completely broken up. A Call for SympathyA preliminary meeting has been held to consider the heat means for showing sympathy with the proprietors of tho Sydney “Evening Nows,” in connection with the late contempt of Court case.

Captain Edmonson, of the i Sasanne Godeffroi, wrecked at Newcastle yesterday, has since expired. Six of the crew were drowned.
COOKTOWN, September 29 Attack on a Junk-
Seven survivors of a Chinese junk have arrived here from New Guinea, and report that tho natives there had seized and plundered tho vessel and killed seven of the crew. The- others managed to escape. The attack was made out of revenge for the abuse of a native woman by some of the Chinese. BRISBANE, September 28. Eastern News-

Slight shocks of earthquake still continue at Manilla, with heavy floods, inflicting great damage on merchandise. Shipping are unable to load or discharge. Java sugar crop accounts state that the yield is likely to he small. BRISBANE. September 29. Libel Action-
Gresley Luckin, proprietor of the “ Courier,” is suing the proprietor of a Catholic paper for libel, damages £3OOO.
