ST. MARY'S, MERIVALE.

The fifth and last paroohial entertainment for the season was given on Wednesday night, 15th instant, in the schoolroom to a very crowded and enthusiastic audience. While the programmes at these homely and pleasing gatherings have always been of a good and diversified oharaoter, it is but jußt to say that the last programme was better than usual. Tho musical part of the entortainment came first, and was very enjoyable. Besides eome capital solos, a duet by two young ladies of the parish was admirably giver, while a glee party, under Mr Sims, gave great satisfaction by their tastoful rendering of four well-seleoted part pieces. The experiment of trying a drawing-room play proved thoroughly successful. To Messrs. Elliston, H. and R. Nottingham, and J. Thornton—but especially to Mr Elliston—tho greatest praise is due for the_ way in which their parts were given. The singing of the National Anthem brought a very successful meeting to a close.
