MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subjoot to the necessary alterations) as under: — FRIDAY, SEPT. 17. For Northers Ports and Australian Colonies, per Wakatipu, at 4.20 p.m. ; late fee letters, 4.35 p.m.; guard’s van, 5.25 p.m. train. For Fiji, to connect with a.s. Southern Cross at Auckland, per Wakatipu, at 4.20 p.m. ; late fee letters, 4.35 p.m. ; guard’s van, 5.25 p.m. train. THUBSDAY, SEPT. 23. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only) Continent of Europe, Point de Galle, India, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape of Good Hope, Suez, the Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, &c., per express, to connect with s.s. Te Anau, at Bluff, as follows: — Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m.; books and newspapers, at 6 a.m. ; registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22nd, money orders, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22nd. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post-Office van attached to the express train on Thursday, September 23rd. This mail will be due in London on November 11th. Notice.—The Brindisi letter rate of postage for the United Kingdom is 8d per half-ounce. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
