[By Telegraph.] [Per 8.9. City of Sydney, at Auckland.] CALCUTTA, September 7. Since the decisive victory of the British over Ayoub Khan, the native population is far less troublesome. The road from Q.uettah to Oandahar is re-opened from past interrupted communication with the city. September 7. Cavalry patrols report the villages near Oandahar full of Afghans, dead and wounded. It is stated that the British cavalry commence retornang to India in a fortnight.
