MOUNT HUTT ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held last Thursday. Present— Messrs Chapman (chairman), McMillan, Jackson, Allington, and Pannett. Tenders for the following works were accepted : Winchmore road, Nos. 1 and 2 sections ; Ur rail road, Lyndhurst road. Nos. 1 and 2 sections ; Oairnbrae road, Nos. 1 and 2 ; Nos. 8 and 9 sections of West Coast road, reshingling ; No. 10, same road ; cuttings on Bolls road. In compliance with a numerously signed petition, the surveyor was instructed to call for tenders for forming and shingling the Broom Park road. A letter was read from Mr Alexander Orr asking the Board to make cuttings down the terrace, so that the land underneath could be worked and water carted from the river, lu the present state cf affairs the land was useless, as it had no read to it, and water would have to be carted to it a distance of some miles. The overseer was instructed to call for tenders for this work. Leave was given to the Methvon Library committee to place a bookshelf in the Board’s meeting room. The following resolutions were carried .-—“ That in the event of contractors failing to finish the specified length of shingling in the specified time, the Board would certainly ro-let the work, and charge the contractor with the difference, if any.” “ That for the future no tenders bo considered formal unless accompanied by a marked cheque to the amount of 5 per cent, on the amount of work tendered for,” The Board then adjourned.
