WHAT HAPPENED TO A TELEGRAPH OPERATOR IN CARSON.
(From the 'Carson Appeal.') A couple of Chinamen called at the Western Union telegraph office and one remarked to Farrell—- ' Mo likeo cletchum despatch.' ' What's your nam") V 'Ah. Wong,' ' No despatch.' ' Me likeo send dispatch to Wah Kie.' «All light.' ' Von fix 'am.' Farrell got a blank ready, poised his lead pencil and waited for instructions. 'You tell 'im, Wah Kie, send me fo dollah hap belly quick. Tell 'im Hop Wing steal him sister. Ping Wing cut Ah Yum two times belly bad. You sabe Ah Yum live Sutro and Silver City ; heap good man.' • Want this all down ?'
• You bet, puttum down, tellum Kie me buy out Hop Woe wash-house fifty dollah ; like 'em come up and work, you eabe ? How muchee ?' ' To San Francisco, all this will be four dollars.' ' Oh, gclong! Me no sabe fo dollah. Me send despachee one day hap dollah. Me want hap dollah dispschee.' Aftor some labor, Farrell condensed what he could into ten words, and then read it. ' Now give his full address, where he lives, what street?' 'Me no sabe where he lib. One time, year ago, he live in Glass Volly. Some time he go Wallaho. guess now work on laiload somewhere. When he catch 'em despatchee make 'im pay.' And the spokesman and hia companion sauntered out, leaving Farrell hnnting for a six shooter. The fact of the weapon being mislaid saved a homicide.
