Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) os under WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBEE 8. For Otago and Australian colonies, per express (to connect with Tararua at Bluff) at 7 a.m. Late fee letters may bo posted iu the travelling post office van attached to tho express train. THUESDAY, SEPTEMBEE 0. For Akaroa, per Taiaroa, at 11.15 a.m.; late fee letters at 11.30 a.m.; guard’s van, 12 noon tra : u. For Otago, per Wakatipu, at 1.50 p.m. ; lato fee letters, 2.10 (p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Te Anan, at 3.20 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.30 p.m.; guard’s van, 4.5 p.m. train. SAT DEDAY, SEPTEMBEE 11. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, China, Japan (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, Northern Ports of New Zealand, &0., per Wanaka, as follows:—Ordinary letters, at 6.30 p.m. ; late fee letters, at 7 p.m.; books and newspapers, at 6 p.m,; money orders, at 4 p.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m. ; guard’s van, 8.30 p.m. train. This mail will be due in London on October 26th.
The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), will close at Christchurch on September 22nd at 7 a.m. This mail will be duo in London on November 11th. Notice.—The Post Office at Malvern was closed for money orders and savings bank business on Angnst 31st. The Post Office at Sheffield is constituted a money order and savings bank office from Ist September. Tho Post Officeat Aylesbury has been re-opened from August 20th. SYDNEY J.
