SUMMARY OF EASTERN NEWS.
[Via Sydney. J [Per To Anau.] The recent earthquake at Manilla caused a terrible panic. Great damage was done, though few lives were lest. The streets were blocked with debris, and the inhabitants were proatrated. The whole city oscillated for seven soconds, but at othor places the shock lasted one or two minutes. The prisoners charged with piracy on the steamer Bowen hsvo been discharged in consequence of insufficient evidence. The Chinese censors have prepared a memorial against Li Hung Chang, the Viceroy, accusing Mm of colluoion with Ohung How and with negle.ting the defencss of China.
