SICKNESS AND ACCIDENT MUTUAL ASSURANCE ASSOCIATION OF NEW ZEALAND.

A prelimicary meeting in connection with tho above association was held last evening, in Messrs Draper, Charters and Oo.'s rooms, Hereford street. There was a fair attendance. Mr Draper was voted to the chair. The chairman read tho circular convening the meeting, and explained its objects. The prospectus would show that ample security would bo afforded to intending members by the Association being placed under the Friendly Societies Act. He would now call upon Mr Pearce to read the rules of the Association. Mr W. 3. King asked if any gentlemen had consented to act as trustees, and was informed that Messrs L. E. Nathan and R. Wilkin had consented. The following resolutions wore duly proposed, seconded, and carried .-—" 1. That it is desirable to form an association to be called the Sickness and Accident Assurance Association of New Zealand, with its head offices at Christchurch ; 2. That the trustees of the Association be Messrs L. E. Nathan, R. Wilkin, and George King ; 3. That we agree to become members of the proposed Association and try to induce others to do so ; 4. That the rules road be the rules of the Association, subject to such additions and verbal revision as may be considered necessary by the committee, such rules, if amended, to be afterwards confirmed at a general meeting ; 5. That the committee consist of Messrs Loughrey, Buchanan, Lough, Fuller, Smith, Cunningham, Pearce, and W. S. King, with power lo add to their number if necessary ; 6. That it be a recommendation to the committee to provide for the burial of deceased members ; 7. That the manager be authorised to take immediate steps for the formation of agencies throughout the colony." Mr W. W. Charters was elected manager of the Association. After a vote of thanks to the chair, the meeting adjourned till September 23rd.
