TITLES OF NEWSPAPERS AND PERIODICALS.
As to the titles of newspapers and periodicals they are a complete Btudy. Every letter in the alphabet excepting X has been called into requisition for an initial, and alliteration abound. You may find an " Earthen Vessel," " Silvor Bells," and a " Golden Lamp." " Sunrise" is at the top of one page, a " New Moon" is far above the " Observatory" in another, and a "Star" shines on a third. " Ladies" and " Gontlornen" are in company with "Men of Mark," and "Wedding Bells" and" Wayside Words Witness" to "Woman's Union" and " Woman's Work" in a " Christian Family" or in the " World of Fashion."
" Old Jonathan" leads to " Old Paths," in in which "Once a Week," "One and All'' speed "Onward." "Our Boys," "Our Girls," and the neutor gender, "Our Young Folks," leave the "Nursery" behind, and have a journal and a budget to instruct them. We have "Our Own Mngagine." "Agr»," and "Youth," both "Night and Day," may heed the "Voice of Warning," while tho "Town Crier" is searching with a "Lantern" for the "Missing Link" in the "Oify Jackdaw's Treasury." The "Chatterbox" may learn "Things New and Old" about his "Family Friend." The "Gardener" may enter his "Floral World" and gather a "Daisy" or see a " Dew-drop." The " Owl" may become a " Monitor" to the " Magpie," and threaten him with a " Sugar Cane" unless he bocomes a " Silent Messenger" after he has taken " Social Notes.'' We have spent a " Leisure Hour" in studying tho " Lights and Shadows" of_ the titles enumerated in this " Annual Register." We will now give our "Mind" a "Day of Rest," after which, perhaps tho "Brain" may take "New Views of Matter, Life and Motion."—"Paper and Print."
