Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following placee (subject to the necessary alterations) as under - TUESDAY, AUGUST 31. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Ara wata, at 12.30 pm. Late letters at 12.45 p.m. Guard’s van, 1.25 p.m, train. For Northern ports, per Wanaka, at 3.15 p m ; late fee Utters at 3.25 p.m.. Guard’s van 3.55 p.m. train. The next mail for the United Kingdom, &0., via San Francisco, will close at Christchnroh on September 11th. This mail will be due in London on October 26th. Notice.—The Post Office at Malvern will bo closed for money orders and savings bank business on August 31st. The Post ( ffico at Sheffield will be constituted a money order and savings bank office from Ist September next. The Post Office at Aylesbury has been re-opened from August 20th. SYDNEY J.
