THEATRE ROYAL.
" The Sole, Survivor,” a regular fullflavored transpontine drama, formed the bill at the Theatre Royal last night. Mrs Walter , Hill played the wronged lady—who, by the way, somehow marries two husbands—with her usual artistic finish. It is true that in real life such a little matter would have probably resulted in a trial for bigamy, but as virtue was triumphant once more a trifle of a bigamy or two should not be cavilled at to arrive at so desirable a result. Miss Arethusa May and Miss Bessie Vivian played their parts remarkably well. By some strange freak Mr Burford appeared as the virtuous and wronged hero instead of the lordly villain, and Mr Musgrave, whose inimitable impersonations of highly respectable old gentlemen, whose cheque would bo good for. any amount of thousands, have won him deserved renown, was oast for a most determined cut-throat. Considering that both these gentlemen were somewhat out of the roles which they have made their own, they deserve groat credit for their impersonations. Mr Clinton, it is needless to say, was thoroughly at home in the part of the stage villain baronet, who is always after the estate of somo mysterious but strictly honest personage. Indeed, like Khoosanbad, he seemed to glory in his villainy. Mr Kennedy, who was continually turning up with pieces of evidence to confound the wicked baronet, was very amusing, and Mr Stark made a fairly good stage detective, which of' course is a somewhat different personage from the real article. The sesnery by Mr Willis was excellent, and the piece well put on the stage. It will be repeated this evening.
