MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at tho Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to tho necessary alterations) as under : SATURDAY, AUGUST 21. For Northern Porta, per Wanaka, at 7 p.m. Guard's van mnst not bo used for this mail. TUESDAY, AUGUST 24. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Botorna. For Northern Provinces, per Taiaroa. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only) Continent of Europe, Point do Galle, India, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape of Good Hope, Suez, the Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, &c, per express train, to connect with s.s. Botorna, at the Bluff, as follows : —Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. Books and newspapers, at 6 a.m. Registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24th. Money orders, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24th. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling post-office van attached to the express train, on Wednesday, August 25th. This mail will bo due in London on October 16th. Notk.—The Brindisi letter rate of postage for the United Kingdom is 8d per half-ounce. The_ next mail for tho United Kingdom, &c, via San Francisco, will close at Christchurch on September 11th. This mail will be due in London on October 26th. Notice. —The Post Office at Malvern will be closed for money orders and savings bank business on the 31st inst. The Po3t Office at Sheffield will be constituted a money order and savings bank office from Ist September next. The Post Office at Aylesbury will be re-opened Ifrom 20th inst. SYDNEY J.
