MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — SATURDAY, AUGUST 21.

For Northern Ports, per Wanaka, at 7 p.m. Guard’s van must not be used for this mail.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 24,

For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Rotoua.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only) Continent of Europe, Point de Galle, India, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Capa of Good Hope, Suez, the Mediterranean Porta, Australian Colonies, &c., per express train, to connect with s.s. Rotorua, at the Bluff, as follows ; —Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. Books and newspapers, at 6 a.m. Registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24th. Money orders, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24th. _ Late fee letters may he posted in the travelling post-office van attached to the express train, on Wednesday, August 25th. This mail will he due in London on October 10th.

Note. —The Brindisi letter rate of postage for the United Kingdom is 8d per half-onnoe.

The next mail for the United Kingdom, &c., via San Francisco, will close at Christchurch on September lltb. This mail will he due in London on October 26th.

Notice. —The Post Office at Malvern will ho closed for money orders and savings bank business on the 31st inst. The Post Office at Sheffield will he constituted a money order and savings bank office from Ist September next. The Post Office at Aylesbury will bo re-opened from 20th inst.
