KAIAPOI CHURCH BAZAAR.
The bazaar and fancy fair for raising funds to liquidate the debt on the parish church at Kaiapoi was opened in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Hilton street, on Wednesday. Favored with fine weather, it is anticipated that the receipts would be satisfactory. The managing committee of ladies who had charge of the undertaking deserve to be warmly complimented upon their perseverance, which produced such a splendid collection of goods as was exhibited upon tho various stalls, many of them being articles of considerable value. The bazaar was declared open at noon. Tho stall holders were—No. 1, the Misses Andrews, Mrs and Miss Hiatt, Mrs Stow and Mrs Widdowson ; No. 2, Mrs Porter, tho Misses Beswick and Mrs J. H. Moore; No. 3, Mrs W. R. May, Mrs O. B. Dudley, Mrs Hampton, Miss Garland and Miss F. Beswick ; No. 4, produce and general stall, Mrs J. Brown, Mrs H. Neeve and Mrs Rich; No. 5, the Misses Monk and Mrs Maples ; No. 6, Mrs Winterbourne, the Misses Winterbourne and Mrs J. Winterbourne; No. 7, Mrs Dudley, Mr H. J. Wood, Mrs G. H. Johnston, telegraphist, was present daring the evening and exhibited s> miniature telegraphic apparatus, upon which messages were despatched to the four corners of the hall. The bazaar was liberally patronised up to a late hour, and was re-opened to-day at noon.
