The third series of wool auctions opened to-day. There was a good attendance of home and foreign buyers 6900 bales were offered, these being inferior and faulty wools of all kinds. The tone of the bidding was hesitating. The auction closes on October Ist. Indian Finance.

Further information to hand states that Ayoab Khan is now engaged bombarding Candahar, and that tho British forces are acting on tho defensive.

News comes to hand that the citadel at Candahar is invested on three sides by Ayonb Khan’s army. General Stewart reports that ho has reached Gundamuk with the British force which was left at Gabnl after General Roberts’ departure

for Candahar, and the evacuation of Cabul is now completed.
