VOLUNTEER PARADES.

TO THE BDITOB OF THE PBBSB. But, —I must take exception to the statement in your columns of yesterday that, owing to some misunderstanding the companies, other than the City Guards, did not turn out on Saturday last. There was an understanding and |cfficial order that Battalion parade be held on the afternoon of next Saturday. Whether the Guards had orders to turn out last Saturday I know not. Speaking of my own company —the Engineers —we had not, and it is to correct any idea of backwardness on our part to attend Saturday parades that I write this. Yours, &c., Enginbbb. August 17th, 1880.
