fPBOM DUE OWN 00HEE9 POND ENT.] WELLINGTON, August 14. The only news from the West Coast to-day re Native affairs is the arrest this morning of four more Natives, including an old man and a lad. Nothing further is known as to the significance of yesterday’s singular proceeding in the vicinity of the Armed Constabulary camp. A Bill has been introduced by the AttorneyGeneral for the purpose of giving effect to the recommendation of the Select Committee with reference to the bankruptcy laws. The following are the principal provisions:— “A majority of creditors for the purposes of the said Act shall be an actual majority in number of the entire body of creditors representing three-fourths in value of the whole liabilities of the debtor, A resolution by creditors assenting to a deed of arrangement by or for the discharge of on arranging debtor will not be valid unless the same he respectively passed by a majority of of creditors present in person or by proxy at a general meeting of creditors convened for the special purpose of passing the resolution. The filing of a deed of arrangement by a debtor shall be deemed to bo an act of bankruptcy, and from the date of filing, if such deed be not assented to by the creditors at their meeting for the purpose, or at any adjournment thereof, no order of discharge of the debtor shall henceforth be made, except in open Court by a Judge of the Supreme Court or District Court.” In |the Legislative Council, next Tuesday, Mr Chamberlin will ask the AttorneyGeneral if it is the intention of the Government during the session to bring forward a measure based upon any recommendation by the Local Industries Commission, and, if not, is there any intention that the Commission should continue its labours, or do they intend appointing another Commission of less freetrade tendencies. Mr Murray intends to move in the House, on Thursday next, that the appointment of Sergeant-at-Arms should cease after the present session. A good deal of dissatisfaction is expressed at the recent appointment.
