AVON ROAD BOARD.
The Board met on AugUßt 9th. Present — Messrs Flosher, Philpott, and Bligh. In the absence of the chairman, Mr Flesher was voted to the chair. Messrs Hobbs and Ross, as a deputation from the Drainage Board, had an interview rolative to drainage of Orescont and Henley's roads. The reports of the surveyor and foreman of works were read and considered. With reference to Captain Milton's fence, the clerk was directed to inform him that the Board having taken legal advice on the subject, desire that the encroachment of his fence on the St. Alban's road be removed. The surveyor was instructed to see the parties whose lands adjoined the road proposed to be widened near Dudley creek. The surveyor was instructed to have notice boards erected cautioning persons not to remove any soil from the roads in the district or any shingle or screenings from the Board's reserves without permission. A letter was received from the City Council re shingling North belt. The clerk was instructed to reply. Correspondence was received from the Drainage Board, the church steward, and the vestry, Papanui. A petition was received requesting the Board to shingle a portion of the Canal Reserve road from Chaney's corner. The surveyor was instructed to inspect and report next meeting. Tenders were received for forming and claying roads in Horner's Township, and wore accepted conditionally. A tender for fencing was also accepted. Accounts to the amount of £lO6 ' 83 3d were passed and ordered to be paid.
