KAIAPOI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of this committee was held on Monday evening. Present —Messrs JJevell (chairman), Mathews, Porter, Coup, Pashby, and Parnham. Lstters were read from the Board of Education, stating that no teacher must be allowed to act ao secretary. From Mr O. 0. Howard, resigning his seat as a member of committee in consequence of his leaving for Wellington. From the head master, forwarding returns of attendance; the total on roll was 450, the average attendance 304, showing an increase of 47. Accounts £22 12a were passed. It was decided that mid-winter holidays commence on 3 August 16th and continue for three weeks. Mr Paahby was authorised to purchase fruit trees for the master’s garden, at a cost of 30s. After passing some other matters of routine, the committee adjourned.
