MAIL NOTICES.
Mails oloao at tho Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under THURSDAY, AUGUST 5. For Northern Ports and Au- tralian Colonies, per Albion, at 3.15 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.25 p.m. ; guard’s van, 3.55 p.m. train. For Otago, per Wanaka, at 12.30 p.m. ; late fee letters, at 12.45 p.m. ; guard’s van, 1.25 p.m. train. The next mail for tho United Kingdom, &e., via San Francisco, will close at Christchurch on August 14th. Mail will be due in London on September 28th. Tho next mail for the United Kingdom, &c., via Brindisi, will close at Christchurch on August 25th, at 7 a.m. Mail will be due in London on October 16th. A Post-office will be opened e.t Elgin, in the district of Ashburton, from Ist August SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
