A portion of the English news from Australian cablegrams, received per s.s. Botomahana, was given in yesterday’s issue. The following are additional items : LONDON, July 17.

The great Powers have addressed a collective note to Greece, embodying the recommendations of the late conference on the Berlin treaty with reference to the question of the rectification of the Greek frontier. The Government at Athene have promptly replied, and expressed their willingness to accept the proposals contained in the document and afford every assistance towards arriving at an amicable arrangement with the Forte. The evasive and procrastinating policy of the Sultan has induced France and Italy to join [England in bringing increased pressure to bear upon tha Sultan, in order to coerce the Porto into carrying out the stipulations of tho Berlin treaty regarding internal reforms and the cession of the disputed territory to Greece and Montenegro. It has been arranged to combine in making a naval demonstration before Constantinople, and Germany, after some hesitation, has consented to co-operate. July 19. An interesting ceremony, that of presenting the Zulu war medal to the troops engaged in that campaign took place yesterday in the presence of the chief military authorities and immense numbers of spectators. The prospects of the harvest are unsatisfactory. Tho weather recently has been very unfavorable, and the heavy and continuous rains that have fallen have seriously damaged the crops. The sittings of the French Chamber of Deputies have been brought to a conclusion. M. Gambetta yesterday formally closed the session. The excitement in Paris in consequence of the expulsion of the religious orders, and the agitation arising from the Communistic celebrations held in connection with tho recent amnesty, are subsiding. The authorities took precautions to prevent any outbreak, and by latest accounts Paris was orderly, A'scheme has been put forward by the Saltan for the reorganisation of the finances of Turkey, the condition of which has of late occasioned a good deal of anxiety. Tho Porte has engaged a number of German financiers for the purpose of giving effect to the proposals. The Porte having determined to send a naval expedition against Greece, desired to appoint Hobart Pasha, the English officer who has organised the Turkish navy, to the command. Hobart Pasha, however, has decisively refused to command any attack upon Greece, as such an expedition would bring him into conflict with the navy of his own country. Tho anarchy existing in Asia Minor is exciting grave alarm. At Adana, an important city in Asiatic Turkey, serious disturbances have occurred. A British man-of-war has been despatched from Cyprus to protect tho lives and interests of the foreign population. The King of Greece, after visiting Paris and London, proceeded to Copenhagen to meet his father, tho King of Denmark. Tho King of Sweden is also on a visit to that Oonrt, and a conference has been hold between these three monarohs. The object has hot transpired, but it is surmised that the end in view is to arrange concerted action between the smaller States of Europe in matters affecting their general welfare. Intelligence has been received from Canada that on accident happened to Prince Leopold, now on a tour through the Dominion. He was out on a fishing excursion, and accidently injured his ankle, so severely that he will be unable to prosecute his journey for some weeks.
