MELBOURNE, July 25' Coursing 1 . Springwator won the "Waterloo Cup. Terrible Tragedy. A terrible tragedy took place at the Opera House on Saturday. A young Irishman named Greer shot his wife and a Frenchman named Soudrey, afterwards shooting himself. It is supposed to be caused through jealousy of Soudrey. They are all dangerously wounded, Greer mortally. MELBOURNE, July 26. Rumoured Action for LibelIt is stated that Mr Mclntyre, who was a candidate for Sandhurst in the Ministerial interest at the late elections, intends suing the " Age " for £SOOO damages for saying l he was bought over by the Government by the giving to his son an appointment. SYDNEY, July 25. Extensive Fire. An extensive fire broke out in George street at midnight. Gordon and Gotch's and other premises were totally destroyed. The loss is estimated at £IO,OOO. The insurances on the buildings are heavy. SYDNEY, July 20. The Late Fire. The insurances on the George street property include £IOOO in a New Zealand Company. Mr Boake's, photographer, noxt to Gordon and Gotch's, was also destroyed by the fire.
