ASHBURTON AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
A committee meeting of the above association was held yesterday in tbs Somerset Hotel, Aahburton, Mr W. O. Walker, president, occupying the chair. The date of tho next show was fixed for Tuesday, the lfith November, on the grounds of the association, Messrs Hunt, Cox, L'eatham, Friedlandor, and Stitt were appointed a committee to revise the catalogue. Tho secretary was instructed to obtain a die and thirty silver medals from London. The chairman said that the question of erecting cattle yards had been taken up by the County Council, and plana hud been accepted for tho work, which was expected to cost about £9OO. Every effort had been made to make the yards as complete as possible. Sheds would bo erected for buyers to stand, an office for tho auctioneers to transact their business in, and also a refreshment booth. The arrangements would bo most complete, and would he was sure prove good property eventually. Ho hoped they would be erected by the middle of October. Mr Hunt suggested that a ploughing match should be held, but Mr John Grigg said that a ploughing match onco in every throe years for a district was sufficient, and after some conversation tho matter dropped. On tbe motion of Mr Zotioh a vote of thanks was accorded the County Council for the action which they had taken regarding tho erection of the cattle yard, and after a number of accounts were passed tbe meeting adjourned.
