Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — THURSDAY, JULY 23. For Otago, per Hawea, at 12 30 p.m.; late fee letters, at 12.45 p.m.; guard’s yan, 1.25 p.m. train. For Northern ports, per Bingarooma, at 3.15 p.m.; late fee letters, at 3.25 p.m.; guard’s van, 3.55 p.m. train. WEDNESDAY, JOLT 28. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only) Continent of Europe, Point de Galle, India, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Capa of Good Hope, Suez, tho Mediterranean Porta, Australian Colonies, &c., per express train, to connect with s.s. Arawata, at the Bluff, as follows : —Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. Books and newspapers, at 6 a.m. Registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27th. Money orders, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27th. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling post-office van attached to the express train, on Wednesday, July 28th. This mail will be due in London on September 18th. Note.—The Brindisi letter rate of postage for the United Kingdom is 8d per half-ounce. The next mail for the United Kingdom, &c., via San Francisco, will close at Christchurch on August 14th.
