RANGIORA WINTER RACES.

The local winter meeting took place on the racecourse on Friday afternoon, the 16th of July. The first event on the list was a match between Mr L. M. Wilson's Cid and Mr White's Annie, one mile, which proved a regular runaway race, the former winning by nearly a distance. The second event was—One mile, for untrained hacks, and was won easily by Mr Oraig Ford's Paddy; Mr O. A. Tyler's Lurline maintained a good lead for three-quarters of a mile, but the distance was too much for her. With a little condition she is likely to show well up in future events. The meeting closed with a hurry scurry, in which Lunatio proved the viotor, Faddy second, and Lurline third. A considerable number of spectators were present, including several of the fair sex.
