THE INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.
The exhibition of local industries, which has been got up under the auspices of the Association for promoting local industries and productions, opens on Thursday morning; next in the Drill-shed, and promises not only to be interesting as showing the advance made in this particular direction of late years, but also a success in a pecuniary sense. Already a very large number cf tickets have been disposed of, and the committee have received intimation of the intention of a number of the public schools being present on the occasion, The Mayor has signified his intention of accepting the invitation of the committee to declare the Exhibition open, and no doubt at the meeting to-night, some programme of the proceedings will be agreed to. The exhibits comprise nearly every branch of colonial industry, and as many of them have also been prepared with a view to exhibition at Melbourne, special excellence may be looked for. The details in the hands of tho various committees are in a forward state, and no doubt the visitors on Thursday next will be both surprised and interested at the number and variety of exhibits which have been got together for the occasion.
