MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
OHRISTOHUROH. Thubsday, July 8. [Before G. L. Lee, Esq., J.P., and R. Westenra, Esq., J.P.j Dbunkbnness.—Two firat offenders were fined ss. Illegally on Pebmishs.—Robert Ruben was charged with illegally going on the premises of Mary Ann Jones, and also with assaulting her. Complainant said defendant came to her house about seven o'clock the previous morning, and gained an entrance through the kitchen window. Defendant pleaded that he rented (ho house, and to allow of further evidence being given the further, hearing was adjourned.
Theft.—Christopher Pardon, aged fourteen, was charged with stealing a stick of tobacco from Edward Fenn. The boy's father promised to thrash him, and on that understanding he waa discharged. Embezzlement. —Joseph Andrews was obarged with embezzling £9 18s, the property of Fracois Innes, brewer, his employer. The police applied for a remand until_ the 14th, and acousod was remanded accordingly, bail being allowed, himself in £SO, and two sureties of a like amount.
