Place betting—6 to 4 on Brotherhood, 2 to 1 agst Muncaster, 5 to 2 Abbot, 5 to 2 Zealot, 3 to 1 Mariner, 3 to 1 Beauminet, 4 to 1 Petronel, 4 to 1 Merry go Bound, 4 to 1 Milan, 4 to 1 Mask, 6 to 1 Olarencieux, 8 to 1 Eegnard. It was a few minutes after the appointed hour, viz., half-past three, when the horses, who, with one exception, Merry go Bound, had been saddled in the Birdcage, arrived at the post, and precisely at 3 36 the white flag was raised as a warning signal to those immediately concerned. Mr M'George had a comparatively easy taßk.Jaa with thehcwesquickly in line he waß enabled, without the semblance of a break away, to drop his flag at the firßt attempt to an excellent start. At this moment the various positions of the horses were as follow:—On the extreme left was Brotherhood, and on his side were also ranged Muncaster, Olarencieux, Mariner, Mask, Merry go Bound, and The Abbot; then, on the extreme right, wasMapsbury, Count Legrange's pair, Pleuret and Milan, the former carrying the distinguishing blue cap, Petronel, and Zealot, and the centre lot comprised Beauminet, Eegnard, Boughton, Melfort, and Fernandez. As already intimated, the lot were sent away at the first attempt, and Mariner, who fairly overpowered her jockey, went to the front and was followed by Beauminet on the opposite side of the course and Merry go Bound, others that were orominent as beginning well being Mask, Olarencieux, Muncaster, The Abbot, Petronel, and Zealot, with Milan, Fleuret, and Fernandez well up. They had not proceeded far upon their journey, when Mariner disappeared from the vanguard, and Beauminet Bhot out with about a clear length's lead of Merry go Bound, Zealot, and Mask, with Olarencieux, Petronel, and Munster heading the remainder, of whom The Abbot and Milan were now most prominent. Much 'in this order they came to the Bashes, and here Brotherhood, who had bo far played but an ignominious "part in the play," was hopelessly beaten, and the same may also be said of Mr Gretton's pair, Olarencieux, Eegnard, and Merry-go-Bound, while Zealot did not live long with his field afterwards. In commencing the descent into the Abingdon Bottom Beauminet held a clear lead of Muncaster, Mask, The Abbot, and Petronel, Zealot and (Merry go Bound leading the remainder, and bo they came on into the dip, where Beauminet was beaten, and Muncaster drew to the front, followed closely by Petronel, while close in attendance upon the pair were The Abbot and Beauminet. Out of the Abingdon Bottom

Muncaster commenced to run very green, and challenged by Petronel, a desperate race ensued, in which the latter obtained the advantage at last, and won amidst intense excitement by a head; three-quarters of a length behind Muncaster The Abbot was third, and a head behind him Beauminet was placed fourth; Mask was fifth, and then came Milan and Fleuret, Zealot being eighth, Napsbury ninth, and Brotherhood last. Time by Benson's chronograph, lmin 52seos. Value of the stakes, £4850. Thb One Thousand Guineas Stakes, a subscription of 100 sovs. each, h ft, for three-year-old fillies ; Bat 101 b each ; the second received 200 sovs. and the third saved stake. B. M. (1 mile 17 yards). 77 subs. , . Mr T. E. Walker's b or br f Elizabeth, by Statesman —Fair Bosamond (C. Wood) 1 Mr C. J. Lefevre's br Jf Verßigny (F. Archer) 2 Duke of Westminster's ch f Evasion (F. Webb) 8 Sabella, Brilliancy, In Bounds, Cipolata, Mirth, Eirene, »nd Strathardle also ran. Betting—2 to 1 against Versigny, 9 to 2 Elizabeth, 5 to 1 Evasion, 14 to 1 Mirth, 14 to 1 Eirene, 15 to 1 In Bounds, 20 to 1 Sabella, 20 to 1 Oipoluta, 20 to 1 Brilliancy. The flag was hoisted punctually at 2 30, tho time appointed for the raoe, and after one slight break away, caused by the restiveneas of Mirth and Eirene, the flag fell to a perfect start. The lot ran in an almost unbroken line, Strathardle on the extreme right making the running, with a slight lead of Mirth, In Bounds, and Cipolata on her own Bide, while Versigny * held the advantage of the loft hand lot, which included Brilliancy and Eirene, and in the centre Evasion was prominent with the vanguard, and was immediately attended by Sabella and Elizabeth. The field mointained compact order until coming to the Bushes, when Strathardle had shot her bolt, and with Eirene, Sabella, Brilliancy, and Mirth also in trouble the issue was reduced to a small compass. As they rose the hill Elizabeth came out with a slight lead, and past the Bushes was immediately attended by the favorite. In Bounds, and Evasion, Mirth, and Cipolata being most prominent of the others. Down the hill Evasion was hopelessly beaten, and with Versigny also hanging out signals of distress, Elizabeth drew awoy on hil], and won very cleverly by a length and a half, twice whioh distance separated the second and third. Evasion, who kept struggling on to the end, occupied the latter position. Strathardle was fourth, Mirth fifth, Cipolata sixth, In Bounds next, and Eirene last. Time, by Benson's chronograph, lmin 56aec. Value of the stakes, £3950.
