[eeuter’s TELEGRAMS.! LONDON, July 6. The Disturbances in Palestine. The disturbances, which were recently reported to be taking place at Haifa, in Palestine, between the Moslems and Christians, have been quelled, and the town is now quiet. Her Majesty’s gunboats, which were despatched to Haifa, have returned to their station in the Mediterranean. LONDON, July 5. The Markets. Five per Cent. New Zealand 10.50 loan, 105; Five per Cent. New Zealand loan, 1889, 1041-; Fonr-and-a-half per Cant. Now Zealand loan, 1879 to 1904, 1001-; Adelaide wheat, per 4961 b., 48s ; New Zealand wheat, ex ship, 48s. The Australian Eleven. The match, Australians against eighteen of Middleshorough, at Middlesborough, was commenced to-day. Tho Australians went in first, and were all disposed of for 207 runs. The Home team then went in, and when the stumps were drawn had lost four wickets for 21 runs. LONDON, July 6. The Mails. The homeward mails via San Francisco, which left New Zealand on May 25th, were delivered here yesterday. Indian Finance. In the House of Commons, the Secretary of State for India made a statement concerning the Indian finance. The war expenditure exceeds the estimated amount by £9,000,000, the present deficit being £3,000,000. Compensation to Irish Tenants. A Bill has been read a second time for giving compensation to the Irish tenants under certain proposed conditions.
