MAGISTRATE'S COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. ■Wednesday, June 30. [Before G. L. Lee, Esq., J.P.] Drunkenness. —A first offender was fined ss. William Oalder, against whom fourteen, previous convictions were recorded, dating from 1871, was fined 40s, with the usual alternative. Patrick Butler, an in-patient at tbo Hospital, was again charged with drunkenness. A few days ago he was punished for a similar offence, and there were twenty-four previous convictions against him. A fine of' 20s was inflicted. (Before G. L. Lee, Esq., J.P., and W. H. Pilliett, Esq., J.P.) Without Means. John Blyth was charged on remand with having no lawful means of support. Mr Lee said he had seen Mr March of the Ashburton Home, regarding applicant, and he had agreed to take him back, and after receiving a homily from the Bench as to the advisability of controlling his temper, Blyth was recommitted to the Home. Sunday Trading. —The charges against Henry Marks of Sunday trading were further adjourned for hearing until Monday next, owing to the unavoidable absence of Mr Whitefoord.
