MAGISTRATE'S COURTS.

♦ CHBISTOHUBCH. Saturday, Jitne 26. [Before J. L. Lee and J. E. Parker, Eiqs., J.P.'s/] Detjnkbnness. Patrick Butler, an inpatient of the Ohriatcharch Hospital, Buffering from a diseased eye, admitted having been drunk and disorderly on the previous evening. He was very violent, abused the warders, and had to be put in irons. A fine of 10s was inflicted. A first offender, female, was fined ss. Assauiting a Tbamway Sebvant.— William John Wilson, arrested on warrant, was charged with having, on the 19th instant, assaulted Justus Hobb3by, striking him with his fist. Complainant, a servant of the Tramway Company, stated that on the day in question he had occasion to lay hands on a boy for getting on the tram whilst in motion, and defendant, without any provocation, came up and struck witness violently in the chest with his fist. A summons was issued on defendant, who denied he was Wilson, and threw away the document after it was served upon him. At his own request he was remanded until Monday. Bobbing thb Soot Kitchen.—George Dell was oharged with the larceny of four bags of onions. It appeared from the statement of Sergeant Morice, that Mr John Jesson, of Papanui, sent four bags of onions to Clifford's mart to be sold, but there being no purchaser he decided to make them a present to the Soup Kitchen, and accused wss told to take them there. He reported to Mr Cliffords eon that he had done bo, but this was subsequently found to be false, and the onions were found in his possession. He was remanded until Monday.
