The race was run in a blinding rain storm, and during the early part of the contest it was impossible to tell k what was actually leading, but as they came round the Turn of the Lands Sword Dance showed in front of Prologue, Wallenstein, Fashion, and Simba, nothing else being near. Eventually, when the signal was given, he got well away on the right, and made the running from Fashion and Gil Bias on his own side, with Episcopus and Prologue prominent just in advance of Rosy Cross and Clementine, while the whinpers-in were Briglia and Wallenstein, la this way they ran half-way across the flat, when Batty dropped clean out of it, and Briglia, parting company with the American, began to close with the leaders, of whom Fashion drew out from Gil Bias and Rosy Cross, and, making the remainder of the running, won in a canter by three lengths ; a bad third ; Rosy Cross was cased, ana finished a had fourth, Briglia and Prologue next, and Wallenstein was last throughout.
