THE OSBORNE STRING BINDER.
Messrs B. Wilkin and Co., the agents of the Osborne harvester, have reoeived by the last mail a sample machine, fitted with the twine binding apparatus, which is alike simple and effective. By a very ingenious little knotter, fixed on a sliding plate working with the needle, the bundles are tied rapidly and strongly. The string passing from the needle around the sheaf goes into a sort of clamp, which holds it rigid until cut off by the knife. With the exception of the alteration, requisite to replace the twister by the knotter, the machinery is similar to that used for the wire binding, which is now familiar to every farmer. The agents expect shortly to receive duplicate parts, so that those desirous of so doing may change their wire binders to string binders at a comparatively small cost. Messrs Wilkin and 00. are expecting to receive a consignment of twine binders in time for next harvest.
