GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
We have to record another comparatively quiet week in the grain market. No anxiety has been shown to either sell or buy, and the result ia that rates have remained unaltered. Good sound milling wheat has been placed at _up to 3s fid, f.0.b.. and lower qualities according to sample. Private telegrams from London advise that the market there is weak and declining, under the combined influence of heavy arrivals and the favorable prospects for the ensuing harvest. This is anything but cheering information, seeing that our wheat will be arriving there pretty freely from this on. Flour has had a fair amount of attention during the week, and some considerable sales of leading brands are reported. Country millers find some trouble in finding buyers at full rates. Oats are nominally without alteration, although sellers generally adopt a slightly firmer tone. Sales of choice milling are reported at up to Is 4d, and feeding sorts from Is to Is 2d. Barley continues completely neglected, and sales are effected with the utm difficulty at 3s to 3s 3d for good malting, and 6d to Is 9d for feed or grinding descriptions. Potatoes are offering very freely, but the buyers are few in number, and for immediate delivery only offer from 20s to 22s fid. Bntter continues in good enquiry, and is readily saleable at lOd. Cheese is unchanged. Hams and bacon are quiet, the first rash of orders being now oxe ■ cated.
