CANTERBURY FEMALE REFUGE.
The usual monthly meeting of the committee was held on Wednesday, the 9;h of June. Present —His Lordship the Primate (president), the Very Rev. the Dean, Messrs J. P. Jameson (treasurer), G. Bowron, W. Pratt, H. W. Packer, and J. Aldred (secretary). The number of inmates was stated to be 16 ; infants, 11. Tbe treasurer reported—Earnings for the last month, £24 2s 6i ; expenditure, including the sum of £6O 7s 7d for furniture, &c , for new wing, £ll3 4s lid. The following donations were announced—Mr 8. Stewart, on behalf of the lata Mrs Stewart, £SO ; Mr W. D. Wood, £lO, and several other smaller sums. The committee directed that their thanks he presented to Mr Hopper, of Addington, for three months’ supply of bread to the institution. The ladies’ committee reported that Mr Taylor, of Tuam street, had kindly offered a supply of bread for a month. The offer was thankfully accepted. The aub-committee reported that the new wing (reformatory) waa now in readiness to admit women under Class B.
