MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : SATURDAY, JUNE 5. For Northern Ports, per Wellington, at 7 p.m. The guard’s yan must not be used for this mail. MONDAY, JUNE 7. For Northern ports, per Go-ahead, at 12.30 p.m. ; late fee letters, 12.45 p m.; guard’s van, 1.25 p.m. train. TUESDAY, JUNE 8. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Arawata. THURSDAY, JUNE 10. For Northern ports, per Te Anau. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christohui ch on Juno 19, and will be due in London on August 3. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (fer specially addressed correspondence only), will be closed at Christchurch on July Ist, and will be due in London on August 21st. The Post Offices at Christchurch and Lyttelton will be open eveiy Saturday night, from half-past six until a quarter to eight o’clock, for the purpose of receiving Savings’ Bank deposits only.
