Mails close at the ( hief Post Office for the f dlowing places (subject to the necessary alterations) aa under THURSDAY, JUNE 3. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only) Continent of Europe, Point do G.illo, India the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape of Good Hope, Suez, the Mediterraue m Ports, Australian Colonics,'&o., per express'tfalh, to connect with s.s. Rotomahana at the Bluff,, as follows :—Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. Books and newapap-rs, at 6 a.m. Money orders, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2nd. Registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Wedneday, June 2nd. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling post-office var. attached to the express train, leaving Christchurch at 8.20 a.m. on Juno 3rd. This mail will bo due in London on July 24th. Note. —The Brindisi rate of postage for the United Kingdom ia 8d per half-ounce. For Otago, per Taiaroa, at 1.50 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2.10 pm.; guard’s van, 2.40p.m. train. For Kaikoura, per Jfmo Douglas, at 3.15 p.m. ; late fee letters, 3.25 p.m. ; guard’s van, 3 55 p.m. train. For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Ringarooma, at 3.15 pm.; late fee letters, 3.25 p.m ; guard’s van, 3.55 p.m. train. Tho next mail for tho United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Ohristohu ch on June 19, and will be due in London on August 3. The Post Offices at Christchurch and Lyttelton will bo open every Saturday night, from half-past six until a quarter to eight o’clock, for the purpose of receiving Savings’ Bank deposits only.
