KAIAPOI CRICKET CLUB.

A general meeting of this club was held at the pre i .tent’s office on Frio ay evening. There was a fair a tendance, Mr J. Lowthian Wilson presiding. Mr Thorne reported his success in collecting unpaid subsoriplidng. An offer to put the ground placed at the service of the club by Mr Pinching in order for next season was accepted. An application for rent, of part of the Kaikatnui paddock was declined. The president’s bats for batting scores were handed to Mr B. M. Wright, who, in eight matches, had scored 177 ; and Mr F. Thorne, who, in seven matches, had made 60 runs. The bats eaon bore a silver shield, on which the names of the winners were duly inscribed. A ball, given by Mr Wright, was presented to Mr F. W. Bernays ; and a second bull, given by Mr W. H. B Pinching, to Mr 0. Hayrnan, who had both made good bowling averages. The chairman observed, in the course of his remarks, that tho club was desplyindebted to others of its members who had maintained its prestige and honor during the season, and whom he trusted to see to the fore in successive seasons. The recipients of tho prizes made suitable replies, Mr Wright offering a bat to be awarded by the club next season. It was resolved to acknowledge the present of a colonial made bat, for practice, from Mr Hollier. Mr Merrin hoped that, in making future awards for bowling, the conditions would be fully considered and made known to all the members. Mr Wilson stated his intention to resign office, as he could not give that attention to the club's interests which be considered they ought to expect from him. The meeting then adjourned.
