The field was rent away well together Pawnbroker jumped oil with a bit of a lead, Electricity and Glenormiston being next. After a few lengths Electricity took up the running, Filibuster being in second place, First Water third, and Pawnbroker fourth In the second division were Belladrum, Rivalry, Mountaineer, Viceroy, and Gion ormiston. Electricity led round the turn into the straight, Pawnbroker being second on the inside. Rivalry third, First Water, Filibuster, Glenormisto- - , Mountaineer, Viceroy, and Belladrum following in order. Electricity led past the stand round the turn towards Elder’s stables, Pawnbroker second, Rivalry in third position, and Filibuster fourth ; First Water, Glenormiston, Mountaineer, Viceroy, and Belladrum being close up. At the back of the course opposite the stand the horses were all in a bunch, being still led by Electricity and Pawnbroker, Rivalry in the middle of the bunch. At the south-east corner the positions were slightly changed, Eirst Water came to the front and was followed by Glenormiston, who ran alongside the ex-leader, Electricity. Filibuster was next, Rivalry fifth, and Pawnbroker had fallen into last position. Approaching the homo turn First Water was in front, and Rivalry came forward and collaring the leader led into the straight. First Water, however, only lost his position for a moment or two, as he again assumed the lead, and Glenormiston also coming close up a grand race between the three ensued. Filibuster tried hard to come up, but could not. First Water maintained his load, and won by about a length from Rivalry, who was a neck in front of Glenormiston. Filibuster was fourth, Belladrum fifth, Viceroy sixth, Mountaineer seventh, Electricity eighth, and Pawnbroker last. Time—3min. 39sec.
