CORN EXCHANGE.

The following is the Com Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening the 28th May, 1880 Ihe condition of the market for the past week is precisely what it has been for some time past. There is no improvement to note. The market for all classes of grain is extremely heavy. Supply is in excess of demand in nearly all kinds of produce. Good milling wheat and short oats will find a good market, but at very low figures. The most recent advices from home are not more reassuring than formerly, hence buyers are chary. Wheat—Good sound milling wheat will find a market at 3s fid per bushel, second quality ranges from 2s fid to 3s 4d per bushel. Chick wheat still continues in large supply and does not meet with a ready sale, Is 9d to 2s 4i being the prices at which business can be transacted. Oats —For good short milling oats a market can be found at 1s 4d per bushel, f.0.b., feed samples at from Is to Is 4d, according to qu dity. Barley.—The market still continues well aupplied, with an indifferent demand. The prices quoted last week may be again repeated, but it must be borne in mind that sales are difficult to effect at the rates quoted, and the quality is the great [desideratum. Fair to good malting samples range from 2s fid to 3s 4d per bushel; feed samples are almost unsaleable, -prices nominal.

Potatoes are moving slowly. Sales are taking place at 25s to 26s per ton, at stations within a few miles of Christchurch, saoks extra. Grass Seed.—There is no change to note in the value of this article of produce The demand is very limited, while the supply is abundant. lbe quality, however, as a rule is very indifferent, and at best times would be difficult to place. Good heavy seed, well cleaned, is worth 2s Cd to 2s lOd per bushel. Cheese and Butter.—4d to lid for the former, and Bdd to 9d for the latter.
