CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB.

The adjourned general meeting was held yesterday afternoon (May 25th) at Oookson’s Commercial Hotel. Present Messrs H. P. Lanoe (chairman), J. Brabazon, A. O. Wilson, E. G. Griffith, F. Egan, G. G. Stead, W. Reeves, and S. Garforth. A draft programme of the Metropolitan meeting, as drawn up by the committee, was read and the various items passed seriatim. It was decided that the committee should settle the date of the meeting after conferring with the Agricultural and Pastoral Association on the subject. It was also agreed that it would be advisable to make use of the totalisator at the forthcoming Metropolitan meeting, the committee to make such arrangements in this connection as they may deem lit. In reference to the proposed new grand stand, the chairman stated that he, with the treasurer, had seen the manager of the Union Bank, who had guaranteed to let the club have the money required (£3000) on the personal security of the members of the club. The chairman further stated that the plans in connection with the new stand and the proposed alterations on the course would be laid before a future general meeting of the club at an early date. After some further routine business the meeting adjourned.
