PRESENTATION.
Yesterday afternoon a number of Ser-geant-major O'Grady's frieiids met him in the Court House at Lyttelton and presented him with a very pretty chimney timepiece and a purse of sovereigns. Mr Thomas Merion made the presentation, expressing very appropriately the feelings of those who had subscribed to the testimonial, and wishing the Sergeant-major a pleasant voyage to his new district North, and if possible, in due course that he may return to Canterbury, tho provinoe in which he had known him as a police officer for olose upon nineteen years. Captain Hugh MoLellan and Mr J. McQuilken also made a few remarks of a like complimentary character, after whioh the recipient, in acknowledgment, thanked the donors for the honor they had done Mm. Sergeant-major O'Grady left for the Bay of Islands by the Arawata yesterday.
