MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — SATURDAY, MAY 22. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, China, Japan, Ac. (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, New South Wales',’ Queensland, Northern Porta of New ZSalhnd, per Wanaka. as follows Ordinary letters, at 6,30 p.m.; late fee letters, at 7 p.m.; books and newspapers, at 6 p.m, ; money orders, at 4 p.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m.; guard’s van, 8.15 p.m. train. This mail will be due in London on July 6th. MONDAY, MAY 24. For Northern Porta, per Wellington, at 9 a.m. TUESDAY, MAY 25. For Otago and Australian colonies, per Eotorna. WEDNESDAY, MAY 26. For Australian Colonies, per express train (to connect with a.a. Rotorua, at Port Chalmerc) at 7,30 a.m. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for correspondence specially [addressed only), will be closed at’Christchurch on June 3rd, and will be due in London on July 24th. The Post Offices at Christchurch and Lyttelton will be open every Saturday night, from half-past six until a quarter to eight o’clock, for the purpose of receiving Savings’ Bank deposits only. Notice—The Post-office called Springbank, at the Moeraki railway station, will be closed from 21st instant.
Monday, MajS 4 h (Queen’s Birthday) being a post-office holiday, all branches of the department will be closed on that day. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
