NEWS FROM AFGHANISTAN.
[By Tb_bobaph.] BOMBAY, April 23. Abdul Rahman, grandson of Dost Mahommed, appears to be the coming man in Afghanistan. People are joining him from every side, even the followers of Mahommed Jan are deserting to him. It is said Mahommed himself is prepared to go over to him. Abdul Rahman is making triumphat progress in Afghanistan, and great anxiety is caused at Cabul by hiß movements. It is reported that influential Kohiatan ohiefs are prepared to receive him as the King, and it is clear that henceforth he will have to be dealt with as a leader. Major Wandley, with two orderlies of the 17th Bombay Native Infantry, and several Oandaharies, 18 in all, were attacked at a small commissariat depot about 50 miles from Candahar, by about 300 men, principally of the Durane tribes. Major Wandley and all but one or two men were killed. No political significance is attached to this circumstance, as it was clearly the work of raiders.
