F- Searle, Paul and Boothman. Torea, schooner, 78 tons, Grundy, for Kaipara. J. B. Way, agent. The Union Company’s steamers Taiaroa, from Port Chalmers, and Wakatipu from Sydney via "Wellington, arrived this morning._ The deep sea shipping in port has been inereased considerably during the past day or t ’o by arrivals from home, Australian, and coastal ports, and the wharf accommodation, it may be expected, will again be occupied to its fullest extent. To give some idea of the wharf work at present on hand it may be mentioned that the New Zealand Shipping Company alone have at present ten ships in port, their aggregate registered tonnage being 10,092 tons. This represents a carrying capacity for wheat of quite 14,000 tons, the whole of which is alongside, the vessels being either busy discharging or loading. Captain Davia of the John Knox reports seeing the lights ashore near Capo Campbell reported yesterday by the captain of the Garelooh, and believes the flames were simply from burning grass and hush. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Bluff. May 19. The Tararna left Melbourne on t) a.m.. and arrived at Hobart Town on the 15th, at 7.30 a.m.; left at 3 pm.; passed the Solanders on the 19th, at 1 a.m , arriving at the Bluff at 7 a.m. this miming- She sails at 3 p.m. for Dunedin. She experienced light -variable winds and fine weather to Hobart Town, and from thence encountered strong S.W. gale with heavy seas to arrival. Saloon passengers for Dunedin—Mr, Mrs, and Mias Mefaviah, Mr Dndfield, Mrs Ellen, Bev Dr. Eoaeby, Mrs Smith, Messrs Dong Us. Halfhide, Mr and Mrs Scott, family and servant; seven steerage, and 183 tons of cargo. For Lyttelton —Mr Ooraer, Hon. William Clifford, Mr Fisher, Mrs Armitage, two children and servant, Mr G. Thompson ; seven steerage, and 57 tons of cargo. For Wellington—Eev. and Mrs Habena, Miss Evans, Mr Sargeant, Miss Simcox, Miss Labonme, Mr Nioholls; seven steerage, and 134 tons of cargo.
