Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under:— WEDNESDAY, MAT 19. For Australian Colonies, per express train (to connect with s.s. Te Anau, at Port Chalmers) at 7.30 a.m. For Northern Ports, per Taiaroa, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m. ; guard's van, 2.40 p m. train. For Otago, per Wakatipu, at 1.50 p m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. FRIDAY, MAY 21. For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Tararua. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on Saturday, May 22nd, as follows:—Ordinary* letters, at 6,30 p.m.; late fee letters, at 7 p.m. books and newspapers, at 6 p.m.; money orders, at 4 p.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m.; guard's van, 8.15 p.m. train. This mail will be due in London on July 6th, The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for correspondence specially addressed only), will be closed at Christchurch on June 3rd, and will be due in London on July 24th. Notice.—The Post Oflice at the Weka Pass Railway Works has been re-opened at Mr Woodhouse's store. The Post Unices at Christchurch and Lyttelton will be open every Saturday night, from half-past six until a quarter to eight o'clock, for the purpose of receiving Savings' Bank deposits only.
