MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to tha necessary alterations) as under:— TUESDAY, MAY 18. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Te Anau, at 3.15 p m. ; late fee letters, 3.25 p.m.; guard’s van, 3.55 p.m. train. WEDNESDAY, MAY 19. For Australian Celeries, per express train (to connect with s.s. Te Anau, at Port Chalmers) at 7.30 a.m. For Northern Ports, per Taiaroa, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. FRIDAY, MAY 20. For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Tararau. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will bo closed at Christchurch on Saturday, May 22nd, as follows :—Ordinary letters, at 6,30 p.m.; late fee letters, at 7 p.m. books and newspapers, at 6 p.m,; money orders, at 4 p.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m.; guard’s van, 8.15 p.m. train. This mail will be duo in London on Jnly 6th. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for correspondence specially addressed only), will be closed at Christchurch on Jane 3rd, and will bo due in London on July 24th. Notice. —The Post Office at the Weka Pass Railway Works has been re opened at Mr Woodhouse’s store. The Post Offices at Christchurch and Lyttelton will be open every Saturday night, from half-past six until a quarter to eight o’clock, for the purpose of receiving Savings’ Bank deposits only.
