The modal of a monster floating railway station has just been made by Messrs Palmer’s Shipbuilding and Iron Company, Jarrow, from the plans of one of their draughtsmen. The idea consists in connecting England with the French capital by railway, the floating station being so constructed as to carry trains across the Channel at the rate of fourteen knots per hour, thus minimising sea sickness, and obviating the necessity of unloading goods. Each train would provide accommodation for 2000 passengers. The model has been forwarded to London for the purpose of being? thoroughly examined by the Admiralty officials. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
