LAND SALE.

Messrs H. Matson and Co. on Saturday last held their usual sale of land and properties. There was a fair attendance, but buyers wore scarce and biddings very slow; 320 acre farm with improvements at the South Bakaia, 20 acres at Lake Sumner, and three sections at the junction of Second street, Sydenham, and Madras street failed to reach the owners’ reserve, and were consequently passed in ; 156 acre farm with improvements, at Gebbies, near McQueen’s Valley, shared the same fate; Mr Jas. Ward’s farm, containing 120 acres, at Longbeach, was passed in at a bid of .£l2 15s per acre; two acres at Kobinson’s Bay fell to the lot of Mr Saxton, at £i 10s per acre. The next was 7J (acres at French farm, bought by Captain Gorle, at £5 per acre. Several other properties failed to reach owners’ reserves, and were passed in.
